A young teenage boy who lived in the Calais ‘Jungle’ and recently arrived in England told Help Refugees: "While I was in the Jungle camp, everyday people came with boots and coats, food and gloves. We had nothing. We would have died without their kindness.”

Thankfully he is now in a warm place but hundreds of people are still arriving every week on the streets of Paris and in the camp at Dunkirk and they need our kindness.

Help Refugees urgently needs SNUG packs (Socks, Neckwarmer, Underwear, Gloves) to help keep refugees warm this winter. Each pack should consist of :

Socks (3 pairs)

Neckwarmer (1 scarf)

Underwear (3 pairs of pants)

Gloves (1 pair)

Sizing:  Men's size S and M are especially needed.

I would like to co-ordinate the collection and delivery to Calais of 50 of these packs and would greatly appreciate your donations. Socks and pants need to be new, but scarves and gloves can be second-hand provided they are clean and in excellent condition.

You can pass me individual items or make up a whole pack - all donations hugely appreciated. So if you get too many socks at Christmas, you know what to do! Please get in touch if you can help.

  • In the end, 60 snug packs went to Calais/Dunkirk with bags and bags of extra items. There was so much stuff that it had to go to Calais in 2 shipments, so huge thanks to everyone who helped. Extra special thanks go to wonderful friends and neighbours in Alexandra Park, who were especially generous with their donations. I counted out a whopping 230 pairs of socks, 180 pairs of pants, 93 scarves, 70 pairs of gloves and 50 hats. That's 623 items of warm clothing in total xxxx.

    • Fantastic - well done!

  • UPDATE: 57 SNUG packs ready to go!3377000?profile=originalPlus warm hats, extra socks and scarves. Thanks to your incredible generosity, 213 pairs of socks, 171 pairs of pants, 74 scarves, 57 pairs of gloves and 45 hats are on their way to keep refugees warm in Dunkirk and Paris.

  • UPDATE: Huge thanks to everyone who has contributed so far. I am hugely grateful and this is a picture of some of the packs earlier today. I am developing an impressive scarf and sock mountain in my spare room, but am running short of men's warm gloves and men's pants (especially size S). So if anyone is still thinking of contributing, these items would be particularly helpful. Though all items still welcome and nothing will be wasted!

  • Hello Susie, I have a lot of good quality, hardly worn, men's scarves for you; how can I get them to you? Linda Chaplin

    • Thank you very much Linda - I'll send you a message.

  • Hi Susie

I have some warm scarves and some ski socks which are cosy and warm. If useful how do I get them to you?

    • Thanks so much Jane! I've sent you a message.

  • Hi Susie

I picked up a couple of extra five packs of socks. Can you message me how to get them to you please

  • Are you still collecting? I was thinking I need some socks and would happily add in a couple more packs. I was in Paris over Xmas and the number of refugees living on the streets is markedly different from two years ago
