We very much enjoyed last Sunday's (16th July) performance by the Palace Band in The Grove. I heard there used to be a proper bandstand there at one time - goodness knows how many decades ago! Right now it's just a fairly ugly concrete slab. Wouldn't it be nice to try and renovate the bandstand (maybe not a full-blown Victorian edifice) and encourage more outdoor concerts and performances by local groups (some outdoor theatre would be lovely).

I really love it by the Grove and we go to Ciro's cafe regularly. Friends of Alexandra Park might be the best people to talk to about the bandstand and future plans relating to that bit of the park. They know what is going on and also seem to have a really good understanding of past plans, what the key issues and barriers are etc. They also work closely with the Palace and park manager Mark Evison.
