Woodcock in the park?

I think I saw either a woodcock or a snipe in the Grove at lunchtime today, flitting amongst the trees next to Muswell Hill school - about pigeon-sized or a bit less, short tail, grey-brown-stripey, very long beak. At first I thought snipe (the only others I have seen were on the Lee marshes over the hill from Bayford), but when I looked at the book it seemed woodcock was more likely.
