Just a reminder to check out Alexandra Palace's What's On pages for events at the Palace and Park.  Although the pandemic has put paid to much activity, there are still some wonderful things to do and the ice rink has reopened which is great news.

As a charity the Palace relies on events to help them care for the Palace and the Park, but this income has fallen drastically due to Covid-19. Alexandra Palace has never been better cared for or more popular, but the progress it has made in recent years is now at risk. The Palace needs all the support it can get so if you are able to make a donation, you can do so here:

  • Alexandra Palace and Park Trust is currently increasing economic activities that harm the environment and exclude many local residents with its drive-in cinema, hot dog stand and drive-in theatre, and its many car parks. Taking a walk in the morning you notice lights blazing on the cinema screen, hot dog stand and in theatre reception. The light pollution must cause a lot of damage to ecology and local wildlife such as bats and birds.

During the drive-in cinema shows many visitors leave their engines running, and this increases the pollution in the park.

The road through the park is getting ever more congested and polluted, with cars being parked in the road overnight, and the Trust is doing nothing to reduce vehicle traffic emissions and congestion.

It's such a shame that the Trust cannot think of more sustainable economic activities that protect the environment in the park and adjacent areas, even though it's well known that pollution and environmental degradation increases illnesses and severity of Covid-19 etc.
