Hi all - works are almost complete in Alexandra Park Library, and the library is set for re-opening at the beginning of January. Thanks to the staff I was able to have a sneek preview . The consutruction work have completed, and now is only questions of putting books back in the shelves. The Tagore Centre has moved out and the upper floor has now room which could be available to the community to rent.  These are some pictures I have taken : children area (Picture 2) has been relocated to the left of the building, and  PC, and 'bring your own device' stations have moved behind the shelves you see at the entrance and in Picture 1. The existing wooden shelves on the right of the buidling have been kept as Grade II listed. More details are still to be finalised and I will keep you posted once I hear more.

  • What happened to the wood panelling?

  • That's great news, Alessandra - thanks for the update!

It'll be interesting to see what the community room is like, and what they will charge for it - there's an absence of affordable rooms for hire in this neighbourhood! I mean for community use.
