Barnet Furniture Centre (BFC) is looking for a Full Time Senior Project Assistant – detailed Job Description attached below. A great opportunity - and full of variety.

Apart from promoting recycling through general retail from our warehouse in Friern Barnet, Barnet Furniture Centre helps low income families and individuals by supplying good quality affordable furniture. Whilst, for obvious reasons, we buy mattresses in, everything else we sell is donated (NB - free collection).

We've been going since 2011, and during that time we’ve helped nearly 7,000 people and families on benefits. Our successful business model means we can offer free delivery over a wide area (including Haringey) to customers on benefits who come to us via an agency. We deal with local Social Services / Housing Depts / NHS etc, as well as organisations such as St Mungo’s about 25 different agencies in all. This number will rise significantly over the next 12-18 months.

We wouldn’t have been able to achieve what we have without our wonderful volunteers, and are proud to offer training and volunteering opportunities to people who’ve been out of work for a time or who’ve had difficulties in life. Over the years, several have gone on to work part or full time for us or elsewhere.

As far as recycling’s concerned, by the end of this financial year (May 2020) we’ll have saved 1,000 tons of furniture and household ‘stuff’ from being dumped in landfill. That’s the contents of about 1,900 average sized houses; if these were in a terrace on both sides of the road, they’d stretch from Ally Pally to well beyond the Emirates Stadium!
