Hi All,
Good news on the station bridge!
After consistent campaigning from the Friends of Ally Pally Station and Alexandra Lib Dems led by Alessandra, Network Rail have stepped in where Haringey Council were missing in action, and have tarmaced the middle section of the public right of way, where flooding has been at its worst for many years.
Huge thanks for all support, particularly to Alessandra!

As it's fresh, we'll see how much impact it has, but it looks to be relatively cambered, with a gulley down the side. We'll see, but it should be a LOT better than it has been.
Next steps: they have offered to completely repaint the bridge (e.g. whitewash or similar) for us to do a fresh mural. Want to be involved? Get in touch - friendsofallypallystation@gmail.com.
As the lifts won't be in place for a good while yet, this can be done this spring/summer, and will last for a long time. They have said that they will look to seal the mural (unlike our lovely first family stencils) so that it can survive the weather for years to come.
As for flooding on the other (station side), well, that's another matter... But let's count small blessings for now!
Best,
Michael

Yes, way overdue (what was their excuse) but great to see this last week!
Well, nothing gets done unless people ask, it seems. And community action seems to be a bit of an empty place these days, particularly post-pandemic.
Confusion over ownership of the public side - Haringey should look after that, but in the end GTR stepped in and did the lot.
It's a bit better, but they don't seem to have properly cambered it, unfortunately, so still gathering a bit.
On the station side, it's more challenging - new surface still flat, and steps gather water. The older pebble-dash steps don't, so I'll keep on at them to do something about that if poss. Lots to be doing.
Oo yes, great work, Michael! Thanks for doing that.
