Hi,

I need a general builder and a plasterer that take on small jobs and hoping you all might have some recommendations please.

If it helps, the details are:

  • For the builder, cut a french drain in an existing patio, take some steps down and put them back up (but with a damp proof membrane)
  • For the plasterer someone who knows how to use lime plaster

Thank you!

Fiona

  • Did you gt the lime plaster sorted out? If not I have a suggestion which might be helpful, but it took my source a long time to find. Let me know and I can provide details.

    • Hi Alex,
Thanks for your message and apologies for the delay in replying.
We haven't got the lime plaster sorted out as yet, so any contacts you could provied would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

    • This is only a tentative suggestion. He has not done lime plastering for me, but did a perfectly good job with other plaster as part of an insulation installation team. The person managing that job says he does have experience with lime plaster. His name is Festi, phone 07492237080. I don't know how he would be if working independently and you probably need to convey clearly what it is you want done.

Alternatively you might try getting in touch with Ecofurb, their website is ecofurb.com, and see if they can suggest a suitable person - normally they do whole-house refurb projects, but they must know people with the required skills.

    • Fantastic, thank you for your help!

  • Fiona, please let us know if you find a plasterer who knows how to use lime plaster. We needed one a few years ago, and the builder who was working for us claimed to know but didn't, so we had liquid plaster dripping all over the floor (it's a very different technique!). A sustainability expert who did know bailed us out, but now he's moved on to making films or teaching French or something. We wanted it so that the walls would be breathable - is that why you want to use it?

    • Hi Annabel,

Just reread this and realised I only half answered your question!  Yes the breathability is exactly why we want to use it. We've just started getting quotes this week and I've responded to Alex above so will let you know if we have any success.

    • Will do (no success so far but haven't been looking very hard).
