The link for the consultation is here:

It's very short, with space for you to add your comments.

I don't suppose many of the APS sixth-formers who catch the 102, 184 or 299 buses northwards every day after school have filled in the consultation? There must be a couple of hundred of them, some travelling as far as the edge of the catchment area for the sixth form - the north circular road.

  • It seems worth saying that there are people around here who rely on the bus services to get about, residents going other places and workers coming here, who would be very relieved to get an improved peak-time service. If more people who can use these services conveniently would do so there could be less need for casual parking and so less competition for parking space.

Also, buses pulling in and out of their stops on a busy road interrupts the traffic, and separating them out into what amounts to an extra lane would benefit the flow of other vehicles.

This proposed scheme is actually two entirely independent parts which don't depend on each other, and they are not necessarily of equal value, at least as far as I can see. I have never experienced much trouble going up the hill on buses.

  • Please see the cars double parked on Thirlmere Road before a bus lane has even been installed. My 96 year old friend neighbour lives on this road, if a bus lane is installed, then how will her friends and relatives be able to visit her if parking becomes a bigger problem?

  • I really don't understand why you want to advocate for something that will cause more pollution, standing traffic and destroy our neighbourhood. What about the children that will have to walk to school through fumes? What about the primary school children who all come from neighbouring roads and walk to school? What about the disabled who will not be able to visit their loved ones if a bus lane is installed? In truth, I am shocked that you seem to be advocating for something that does not directly affect you. What's your logic? To save a few minutes if not seconds on your bus journey?

  • Must be lots of sixth formers too who live more locally and whose families actually need their cars and their parking spaces. Whose disabled or elderly relatives need a space to park in to allow them to visit. Whose family members might need visits from carers who have to be able to park in order to care for them.
