Catherine West MP has written to Network Rail to request a meeting about the Dagmar Road fence.  This would also involve residents of the street and local councillors.  In the meantime, she has asked that work on the fence should be suspended until after such a meeting.

Network Rail have begun replacing the existing wooden fence with a wire-like structure.  Local residents have complained about the effect it has had on their environment. This was the subject of a story published on the Tottenham Independent website this week.

Since Dagmar residents have realised what Network Rail and planning to do with wooden , they have been active as individuals:-

    1. 45 Dagmar residents have signed a petition that outlines 6 different reasons why the proposed fence is totally inadequate ,

2.Indivdually written to NR and asked to discuss the matter with Network rail

    3. identified an alternative wooden fence that is at Hornsey Station !

4 Obtained support from Cllr James Paterson who has raised our grievance with MP Catherine West who has written to Network rail and asked that they suspend work until a meeting has taken place with Network Rail.

5 One resident has written to the Minister for Transport McLoughlin .

What I am angry about is how caviler and unbelievably complacent Network Rail are about the environmental impact of their decision is to pull down the wooden fence is

I recently turned into Dagmar after walking my dog and was shocked at how exposed I was to an up coming freight train that was just passing along Dagmar Road. I initial thought was : ' This can't be right ! '
I could have been on Platform 1 at Alexandra Park Station.

One mother said to me recently that without the wooden fence we are more exposed and the road feels less save . Another was angry resident said that when he moved to Dagmar there was a wood fence that afforded some visual and sound protection . 'Now we are completely exposed'

Residents I speak to are bewildered about why Network Rail can't do the simple like for like replacement .

Personally I believe their sudden notification that they were beginning work on a certain day without saying what they were doing, makes a mockery of their Community Relations set up . To add insult to injury they didn't start on the the day they said they would

When you think that ALL the residents want is parity with the Hornsey Station to help minimise the environmental damage , stress , noise pollution , it is incredible that Network Rail are doing what they are doing
