Haringey Council’s 'pollution’ team is led by newly appointed Kenny Abere who deals with Air Quality issues such as idling motorists - a big problem all over the borough.
But as soon as he started working he got his wings clipped: He has been asked to pause the Air Quality Project. He and his team 'have all parts ready to go, but cannot spend any money on this (Air Quality Project) including funding Highways work.’
Who has put a stop to this, and why?
If the council did not spend so much money on outside consultants and endless ‘Commonplace’ consultations they could actually spend money to improve air quality, replant street trees (cut down last year - not replaced to date) and put more filters on our roads.
Haringey declared a Climate Emergency several years ago. But it does not act as if there's an emergency.

Actually, Kenny Abere informs us that he's been in post - Pollution/Air Quality - for 3 1/2 years.
But he does not respond to the question why his Air Quality Project - namely a Borough-wide anti-idling TMO - has been halted. We need to know the name of the person who paused it, and what reason was given for halting it, despite the fact that Kenny Abere had 'all parts ready to go'.
This is appalling. This weekend we are suffering, once again, from high air pollution levels in London.
With thousands of idling motorists who leave their engine running whilst stationary for 'air conditioning' or 'refrigeration' purposes.
How extraordinary. No reason given?
No! It sounds as if it's for financial reasons. But we need to find out who halted the project.
Not very financially sound to employ somebody who is then prevented from doing what he is employed to do!
