Keeping our community clean and safe is one of my top priorities. A tidy environment doesn’t just lift how we feel about where we live, it also protects our health. When waste is left to build up, it attracts pests, increases the risk of vermin‑related illnesses, and creates conditions that can trigger asthma and other respiratory issues. Cleanliness, they say, is next to godliness, and it truly supports both wellbeing and pride in our neighbourhood.
That is why over the past few months, I’ve been working closely with the council’s environmental team, Veolia, the housing management estate team and our parks team. Together, we’ve taken firm action: issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) where needed, serving notices under section 34 and 47 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, cutting back overgrown grasses on our estates, picking up rubbish that slips out during early‑morning collections, providing extra bins in busy areas, and tackling litter hotspots across Alexandra Park Ward.
I have also obtained the road sweeping rota for the ward. So, If you’re experiencing issues with road sweeping, uncollected bins, fly‑tipping, littering, or private land where rubbish is being left to accumulate, please get in touch. You can also report fly‑tipping, littering and missed collections directly through the Love Street App.
A cleaner community is a healthier community. Let’s keep Alexandra Park Ward clean, together!
