Working on a project called "Neighbourhood in Bloom". This will be a community‑led environmental improvement initiative designed to transform neglected public spaces into vibrant, pollinator‑friendly micro‑gardens. By bringing together local residents, small businesses, and the local authority, the project will restore abandoned planters, unused corners, and overlooked patches of land, turning them into thriving pockets of biodiversity that uplift the entire neighbourhood.
The initiative addresses three core needs:
Environmental regeneration: increasing pollinator habitats, improving soil health, and introducing climate‑resilient planting.
Community cohesion: creating opportunities for residents of all ages to collaborate, volunteer, and take shared ownership of their surroundings.
Place‑making and wellbeing: enhancing the visual appeal of streets and public spaces, fostering pride, and contributing to safer, more welcoming environments.
Earlier today, I had a positive meeting with Eoin at Sunshine Garden Centre. It was a pleasure to also meet Dennis, who will be vital to this project.
