As many of you will know, the gate on the Alexandra Palace Station footbridge, near the Bedford Road entrance, was closed over a week ago. This was, according to a Network Rail notice, due to a 'trip hazard'. I would have thought this would be relatively easy to resolve. However, the gate remains shut because Network Rail have failed to repair it.
The closure of the gate is inconvenient for passengers who use the Bedford Road entrance. Moreover, it causes overcrowding on the footbridge during peak times. I have contacted Network Rail several times to ask them to resolve the issue. Thus far, they have failed to do so. This points to a culture of laziness and negligence within their organisation.
It is clear that more pressure needs to be brought to bear from the local community. Therefore, I would encourage residents and passengers to contact Network Rail by letter, e-mail, telephone or social media to insist that they take immediate action. I have provided some contact details below:
