My daughter has asked me to recommend a computer repair person for her ailing PC, and it seemed appropriate to share the info. with the APN website. We have used ComputerAid (‘IT support for all computer-related problems’), alias Bob Spencer, a couple of times and found him very helpful and easy to communicate with. He does not hold up his hands in horror at your ancient equipment or lack of tech savvie. When I decided last year that I could not carry on with my old XP laptop, but would have to get something smarter, I’ve ended up with two, since he enabled the old one to continue trundling along doing the things it can, and also adapted the new one so that I could still work the way I was used to, and not to have to find my way round something completely unfamiliar. He charges £65 an hour, and lives locally, so will come and look at your PC in your home (I gather he can also help with Macs).
