Can anyone help? I saw these upside-down flower pots strung up from branches up by the Ally Pally carpark, slightly set back from view, but visible from one of the pathways.
What are they? I thought maybe some sort of conservation/housing for insects, or maybe its an art installation. Anyone shed some light?

A word of advice: use a double strand of garden twine if you try to make one at home. In a wet and cold winter, the twine may rot and snap. Or, use string or garden wire.

Thank you Stephen. They must have spent ages making them - and I bet there are some pretty happy bugs around now. I love the way the pots slowly move around in a slight breeze. It is a true work of art!
Stephen - do you know anything about them?
They're extraordinary - the dead leaves are tied up inside the pots. It hadn't occurred to me that they might be for insects - but seems the wrong time of year! They are right by the Park Information Centre, where I was helping on Sunday, but we knew nothing about them.
Are the Park Information Centre not aware of them Annabel?
They are lovely things aren't they, but there must be a purpose as someone has obviously spent a lot of time and energy setting them up.....would love to know!
