Dear All,

Many local residents will be aware of the potential planned development in Crescent Mews for up to 30 residential units for between 80-85 people.

Your local Councillors have been collecting feedback from residents, and we have now been informed by the Council that there will be a Development Management Forum to propose the redevelopment of the site.

Date: 24th October

Time: 7PM

Venue: Civic Centre, Council Chamber, Wood Green High Road, N22 8LE

Information about a Development Management Forum:

"Development Management Forums are used to facilitate the discussion of large scale or contentious planning applications. Their purpose is to allow participants to raise issues of concern and get answers to questions about the particular application from the planning applicants. The aim is to allow early discussion by Councillors and members of the public on planning issues related to these planning applications"

We hope to see you there.

Cllr Nick da Costa

  • I was unfortunately not able to get to this discussion forum at the Civic Centre - does anyone have information about what happened, and what the developers are planning to do?

    Many thanks, Annabel

  • *** Forum to discuss this controversial planning application is this evening Wednesday 24th October at Civic Centre, 7pm ***

  • Thanks Nick. I'm unlikely to be able to make it to this meeting due to other commitments. If I can't, I'm most interested in how this development will help: 'achieve healthy, inclusive and safe places which... allow for easy pedestrian and cycle connections within and between neighbourhoods, and active street frontages; use of clear and legible pedestrian routes, and high quality public space, which encourage the active and continual use of public areas; and enable and support healthy lifestyles, especially where this would address
identified local health and well-being needs – for example through the provision of... layouts that encourage walking and cycling.'

The above is a material consideration in planning applications. In the context of the Mews, where currently vehicles enter and exit at speed across the pavement (often having first driven on the wrong side of Crescent Road), coupled with a road layout at the junction of Crescent/Palace Gates Road that is both dangerous and largely inaccessible to anyone with mobility issues, there is a clear opportunity here for developer contributions to 'new or safer road schemes' (as described in CIL guidance). It'd be good to know what the applicant is proposing to do to solve these long-standing problems.

    • Thanks for the excellent feedback Grant. I’ll include it I my questions / comments at the meeting.

If anyone else has comments - you can email us on nick.dacosta@haringey.gov.uk.

We’ve put out leaflets to the local area asking people to send us comments/come along to the meeting. It would be great if we could have a large crowd come along.

  • No worries, if anyone can’t attend, them I’m happy to be emailed feedback which I am happy to pass that feedback on.

  • Thanks, Nick, the forum sounds useful.
