The Friends of the Rec have launched a Crowdfunding campaign to raise money to install 35 solar lights in the park!

Behind the scenes they have been working hard to get this project underway and we hope you will support them by donating & sharing using email groups, WhatsApp groups and social media!

Here’s some of the highlights:

  • Safety of our children, dog walkers, exercise groups, evening events
  • Solar lights mounted on 6 meter columns to avoid disturbing local wildlife.
  • Sustainable and no running costs.

If we reach our target we have the opportunity to get some funding from the Mayor of London’s office

Please support this project!

  • Thank you so much to everyone who has pledged and supported our lighting project. This coming Monday (24th February) the GLA/Mayor of London will be assessing our crowdfunding campaign and scoring it based on activity on our project page.

We would like to ask if you could send the link for the campaign to two or three people (or more if you wish!!) and encourage them to support the project in the next 5 days. If we can generate a buzz before Monday it will encourage the Mayor to pledge.
    🙏

    • Many thanks Emma for the update.

  • Good project - I've pledged. Do you have any pictures of what the lights would look like? Also, are there any other fundraising events planned to help raise the £55k needed for the lighting? It would be great to hear about them.

    • Thanks Susie.  Sorry, we don't have any pictures of what the lights will look like.  The only fundraising event that is currently in the pipeline is being organised by Elite Fitness.  They are planning a kareoke night in the Pavilion to support the project.  We would welcome any other groups organising fundraising events as it's a big total we are aiming for!
