TRIO OF POETS

Sunday 20th February 1.30 – 3pm

We are delighted to host a Trio of Poets: Kirsten Irving, Leo Boix, and Tom Kelly. There will be an hour of readings from their current and upcoming poetry collections, as well as from ‘The Best New British and Irish Poets Anthology’ which was released in the summer 2021. The afternoon promises to offer a diversity of voices and poetic styles, and readings will be followed by an opportunity for book signings, as well as light refreshments.

Kirsten Irving is a Lincolnshire-born, London-based poet. Her work has won the Live Canon International Poetry Prize, been published by Salt and Happenstance, and been thrown out of a helicopter.

Leo Boix is a bilingual Latinx poet born in Argentina who lives and works in the UK. His debut English collection Ballad of a Happy Immigrant (Chatto & Windus, 2021) was awarded the PBS Wild Card Choice and was selected as one of the best five books of poetry by The Guardian (August 2021).

Tom Kelly is from Nottingham and currently lives in Wood Green, London. In 2015 he won the Templar Portfolio Award, and his pamphlet ‘The Hoopoe at the execution, Villebois’ was launched at the Derwent Poetry Festival. In 2017 he won The Interpreter’s House open competition.

Tickets for the event are £4 or you can buy the anthology and a ticket for £14 (that's a 33% discount on the book).

Our Child of Stars takes place in small-town USA, entering the Seventies. A childless couple Gene and Molly adopted a strange, wounded child of the stars they call Cory.

Molly is the main narrative voice – a passionate nurse fighting for her own extraordinary child. Cory is gentle, vibrant, excitable, endlessly curious and loving – and both joy and danger comes from his otherworldly origins.
