yesterday we were approached by two men claiming to be from the building site acress the street offering to paint our stonework, which is what is underway over the road. After some discussion it becaame clear to us that they were not legitimate painters and decorators because they asked for a large cash deposit for scaffolding. We asked to see evidence of their business credentials but mysteriously none were available. In many ways they were very plausible and certainly knew how to talk the talk.  They were two middleaged men, not very tall and a bit podgy.  The most active one called himself Peter and spoke with an Irish accent.  I would urge anyone approached by these men to be very suspicious and reject any offer they make.
