Just been to the Edible Garden Show at Ally Pally where the director of Project Maya, a social enterprise which supports conservation, mentioned that free wildflower seeds are available for community groups. They do an urban meadow mix and lots of other combinations of bee and butterfly-friendly seeds. Community groups just have to supply a few details of their proposed community gardening project. Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe a wildflower patch in front of the library?

We (PGRA) tried this on the Crescent Road, Crescent Rise, Albert Road junction and people complained that it looked untidy so it is now more classical planting with some wild flowers.
Maybe you should try it by the library in the Alexandra Residents Association area......
Good luck.
They give away herb seed-balls too which shouldn't be so 'untidy' once they start to grow since they are mostly compact. They should smell good too.
