Please can anyone recommend a gardener or tree surgeon who has a good knowledge of fruit-tree care? We need to sort out some old and rather tangled garden apples and pears. Previous attempts involving harcuts with chainsaws have not had hugely good results. Probably the less use of power-tools the better.

Thanks very much.

  • This is a while ago now - we went with a suggestion to try Clear Cut Trees (local company based in Vallance Road). They pruned our trees very sensitively last March – Rich was enthusiastic about doing a job that only required hand tools for a change, including removal of a tall branch that was growing vertically. The trees responded with a magnificent show of blossom a month or so later, and now has large bunches of small apples – hope it will drop many of these in the near future.

Our huge white climbing rose, that had been growing heavenwards, responded to the pruning with a magnificent (ongoing) display of sweet smelling blossom (Mme Alfred Carrière).

Their name rather conjures up images of decimated Canadian forests, but the company emphasise their concern that trees should be a benefit in the urban environment, and that they work to promote this.12003492857?profile=RESIZE_930x
