Across two weekends in November, Muswell Hill Sustainability Group’s 11th annual Green Open Homes season offers insights and inspiration with decarbonising homes, as eight homeowners generously open the doors of their retro-fitted and eco-build houses for pre-booked guided tours.
Said MHSG chair, Cara Jenkinson,”This is the 11th year for our Green Open Homes season and it becomes more popular and vital each year. Reducing our domestic emissions is one contribution to Net Zero that we can all be making, and the line-up of houses that are generously opening their doors covers the full spectrum - from quick-fix LED lighting to a scratch built passivhaus. This is a rare opportunity to pick the brains and little black books of these early adopters”.
Three accompanying evening expert talks further deep dive into:
- feasibility, installation and design of renewables, including air source heat pumps and solar PV
- an introduction to the ‘why, what and how’ of entry level residential retro-fitting
- two eco-architects share their expertise and personal stories of designing and retrofitting low-energy houses
