Haringey Clean Air Group is following up on last year’s People’s Assembly with a free Webinar on monitoring London and Haringey’s polluted air, and why we need tougher legislation to protect our health.

Do join the event to hear speakers from Imperial College, the British Lung Foundation/Asthma UK, and Client Earth tell us more about hidden pollutants, and what we can do.

The Pollution You’ve NEVER Heard Of !

PM2.5

It’s in our air, our rivers and oceans, in our lungs, our blood, and even in our organs!

WHAT is it?

It’s tiny polluting particles or droplets that we breathe in everyday - outdoors, and inside our homes, buildings and schools.

 HOW does it affect us?

PM2.5 is linked to heart and lung diseases, cancer, type 2 diabetes, low fertility, dementia, and in children to memory and intellectual impairment, asthma and reduced lung growth.

Recent research indicates that increased exposure to PM2.5 is also linked to greater Covid infection rates and more deaths.

 WHERE does it come from?

In London, the main sources of these pollutants are roads - vehicle emissions, and tyre and brake wear - as well as cooking, wood-burning stoves, and construction.

WHO is affected?

All of us!  Did you know that 99% of Londoners live in areas that exceed World Health Organisation limits for clean air?  Scientists now believe there are NO safe levels for this microscopic pollutant.

Most affected are the elderly, those who live and work in polluted areas, and our children whose bodies are still growing.

WHAT can we do?

Join our free online event to hear more about this ‘hidden’ threat.
