Lucy Craig met volunteer litter-picker Neil Marshall this week near the lake in Ally Pally, one of many who are volunteering to do this endless task. The Friends of the Park are organising a rota, and others are doing it off their own bat - and being very effective. I was in the park on Tuesday morning about 10, and it was spotless (still hot then, and before the road closure and parking prohibition!), whereas on a similar morning the week before you could hardly see the grass for the litter - as many people have commented!
The Park maintenance team are reduced in numbers and need to focus on other tasks, so help with this perennial and expensive activity is very welcome to them and the cash-strapped Palace!
