If 7 maids with 7 mops ...

Veolia have brought out the big guns to sweep the leaves off our streets (or some of them). I saw 8 large men with 8 large brooms sweeping away in Outram and Clyde Roads, as well as 2 smaller men blowing out the leaves from under the parked cars. A huge lorry with circular brushes tidied up after them.

Whatever happened to our lovely street sweeper Peter, who kept our pavements so clean?

  • Does anyone know if street sweepers are supposed to/do clear leaves from storm drain covers?.

    • I'm not sure. They should do. But if a storm drain is blocked, this can be reported on the Haringey website. It can take a little while to find this.

    • I think it is just the covers that need cleaning of leaves to stop the torrents flowing down the street gutter. Only takes a little effort, much less than the techy gully cleanse I think.
