Other updates from me on a couple of incoming engagement exercises, as officers have confirmed they will happen after the Summer:
- Pavement Parking removal on Crescent Road and Palace Gater Road: the engament should start late September.
- Alexandra Park Event Day parking restrictrions for non residents ( no date yet)
While we wait for the long promised and overdue more coordinated approach to the traffic issues in the areas, these engaments are the closest we have come to discuss measures to manage the access and amount of traffic, expecially outside traffic generated in occasion of events ( I have asked that the Alexandra Park Event Day will also include the Tottenham Stadium events as there is anedctotical evidence that many do come and park in the area to get on the shuttle buses generating traffic and parking issues).
With respect to
pavement parking you can read more about alternatives here:
https://www.minutes.haringey.gov.uk/documents/s138669/Appendices%20A-D.pdf, there is also a specific mention to Palace Gate Road in section 5.5 of Appendix A, and the EqIA assesment that sometimes I am asked about. Many will be aware that Crescent Road footway is currently being resurfaced. This will not mean that the pavement parking consultation will be postponed. The reason why this was done ahead of the engagement I have been told is that officers wanted to wait until the pavement parking was resolved but the paving was in too bad condition, due to the constant damage being caused by the current pavement parking.( and I would add as many of you know and have pointed out by the scaffolding of the building works).
With respect to the Alexandra Park Event Day, I would also add that I have had a meeting with Haringey and Alexandra Trust officers to discuss the parking suspensions that come up when there's an event at the Palace. It was clarified that parking suspension do not apply to the full length of Alexandra Park Road, but only at specific points where the road is narrower and limit the transit of diverted bus. I have asked for this to be made a bit clearer, and perhaps add a map of where is not possible to park in the posts as sometimes is difficult to spot in the long list of addresses and numbers. So, I hope there will be a way to make it more explicit in the template used, that is somehow fixed as I have been told is required to be in specific form by law, but in the meantime please bear this in mind for the next events.
I am sure that closer to the time more details will be shared with ward concillors so I will share it here. In the meaintime , as I am aware how this topic is close to many of you, you can have a look at the pages on the Haringey parking consultations to have an idea of what to expect in these engaments and start thinking about possible suggestions:
