Dear all - I have received some welcome news from Haringey officers about the Oliber Tambo playground and pond area refurbishment. The works will be completed as planned in January, following which the contractor will leave site. The play equipment has been installed, most of the groundwork has been undertaken and new pathways and social spaces are currently being created. Once the construction phase has completed, officers will plan for the establishment and engagement phase, although during this phase the site will continue to be kept closed to allow to dry out and the grass seed to germinate until the grand opening, currently planned for around Easter.
During this time there will be a series of engagement opportunities for some groups:
- February - Tree planting with Alexandra Park School’s Environmental Committee & Tree Team.
- February - Willow Weaving Tunnel & Domes with TCV (The Conservation Volunteers) & local community – booking details to follow in January.
- March – Shrub and planting sessions with a school & Greenspace Officer.
- March - Pond planting with TCV (The Conservation Volunteers) & local community – booking details to follow in February.
Many will be pleased to know that a memorial tree for previous Head at Rhodes Primary School will also be planted.
Please let me know if you have any queries or follow up for me.
