Local carpet shop closure

I am very sorry to see that Plush Floorings (Palace Gates Road) has closed, due to retirement. They had been here for 40 years. The owner of the shop lives in Derby, and his son - who was more often seen in the shop in recent times - lived in Stevenage, so they had a long commute! We have used them several times over the last 20 years or so, and they have always been very friendly and helpful. They had a photo of the shop as it was in Edwardian times stuck to their window - I really wish I had taken a photo of that, to put on APN!

When I last spoke to Robin, the owner, he said that they had not been badly impacted by the pandemic, and when I interviewed him a couple of years ago (amongst other local businesses) on how they found running their business in this neighbourhood, he was very positive about it.
