200 organisations supported this festive event, organised by Extinction Rebellion, with local groups Muswell Hill Sustainability Group, Muswell Hill Extinction Rebellion, Muswell Hill Friends of the Earth, XR Haringey and Haringey Tree Protectors taking part - with no doubt more. As can be seen from this photo of MHXR, the particular focus of these groups was defending our vanishing woodlands and threatened ancient trees, including in the streets of Haringey.
Chris Packham urged “every last person who cares” about the planet to join in.
On Sunday the weekend of demonstrations continued in a more subdued fashion, in support of the London Marathon. When the Director of the Marathon was asked on TV about disruption of the event by protesters, he instead said (video at https://twitter.com/i/status/1650159934678392833):
"What we have seen today is people coming together for a joyous occasion ... in Parliament Square. Global warming is so important, together, we have to take action to do things ... people should absolutely be allowed to protest ... we need to listen to each other ..."

The last day of the weekend of demonstrations is today, which includes a procession dramatising the evils of incineration at noon. This is organised by XR Haringey who, locally, are particularly concerned about the new, huge incinerator being installed by the North London Waste Authority; lots of similar incinerators are being installed elsewhere in the country. Then lobbying MPs, finishing with 'Picketing' Parliament - i.e. not preventing people coming and going, but processing around the building. Programme here.
