Spoiler alert, I want to ask Catherine about adaptation to the extreme situation we're already in. A lot of policy seems to be focused on trying to prevent impacts of climate change by getting to net zero at some point in the future, but the impacts are already here - flooding, drought, crop failures, supply chain failures - and we need to find ways to adapt now. I'm also really interested in how community action can help.
Yes, I'm going! I absolutely agree with you about the excessive emphasis on targets, when the climate emergency is happening now.
I think Catherine West does tend to toe Kier Starmer's line, in particular with regard to the climate - ? Many people have asked her to support the Climate and Nature Bill, without success. As Chris Skidmore, a Tory ex-Cabinet Minister for Energy says,
