Dear all – you’ll remember that I have raised many times in the past the issue of lighting in Oliver Tambo Rec, especially the path leading to Bidwell Garden, and the reconstruction of Tunnel Garden path, with petitions for actions delivered to officers. Officers agreed to consider a lighting systems that could be easier on the night wildlife, and that the Tunnel Garden path needed repairs, but nothing has been done yet for lack of funding.
After reading about an allocation to Haringey for the ‘'Pride in Place Impact Fund' (1.5M £ over 2 years ) I have asked officers at the beginning of November if the Fund could be used to fund both project. I have now been confirmed by officers that they have included a request to use the funds for both projects, and Cabinet Members will decide on what scheme will receive the funding.
They have also confirmed that both projects remain on their future work plan, subject to funding and priorities, and for the pathway improvement they will try to prioritise capital funding in 26/27.
I will keep chasing both and keep you all posted.
I was also reminded by officers that there is a consultation on the use of the Community Infrastructure Levy and residents and Councillors are invited to suggest projects pinning specific locations on the map here: https://haringeyncil.commonplace.is/
I will add these two projects to my submission for the ward, but if you have a chance, it would be great if you could also add in the map these, or any other improvement you think the areas needs. The deadline is the 19th January.
As always, please get in touch if there is any further comment or query, thank you!
