Last week you may have seen the police carrying out speed checks on Palace Gates Road, Albert Road and Alexandra Park Road.
The police have 'promised' to monitor traffic speeds. It would help if Haringey would do something to tackle the volume of through traffic.

In the course of our discussions with Haringey Council about the junctions of Colney Hatch Lane and Alexandra Park Road we have emphasised that traffic still cuts off the corner from the A406 by Tesco, up Colney Hatch and down to Bounds Green tube. We see it happening and see the problems it causes, especially with the dangers of HGVs. They have considered this in the plans they have made for safer crossings and are looking to do a feasibility study to see if they can restrict HGVs. Let's hope that helps!
How does this help reduce HGVs?
We asked for a ban as part of our campaign. The measure you refer to above is to ensure greater safety to pedestrians who in the current arrangement, are either stuck on the narrow bit of pavement on the corner or in the narrow island in the centre. The Council is now looking into a ban on lorries over 7.5tonnes and will undertake a feasibility study. We can keep people updated via this group and can point you in the direction of who to write to if to support the ban if that would help. Email us at : crosssafen10@gmail.com
