This summer's Short Fiction Workshop is set to run online during June and July. The course will be delivered via Zoom video link up and you will get lots of help setting this up.
Wednesday evenings, 6.45pm-9.15pm June 10, 17, 24, July 1, 8, 15. Cost £125 (email kate@collage-arts.org to register and receive payment link)
Short fiction can be liberating to get down – but exacting to get right.
Over six weekly sessions, we’ll workshop your own stories, linked stories, flash fiction or even micro fiction. If it’s short, we’re interested in how you can make it as powerful as possible.
We’ll also look at a diverse selection of short stories by international writers, such as Irenosen Okojie, Kawabata Yasunari, Daniyal Mueenuddin, Lydia Davis, Rachida el-Charni and others.
We’ll discuss: – what works – how it works – and why it works.
Our examination of the craft will range from the traditional to the experimental, from character-based to thematically driven, from stories that expand a moment to those that cover a lifetime. Entirely optional extra stories will be provided for particularly keen readers. Come along if you’d like to be inspired, motivated and challenged in your practice. All levels welcome.
As a Collage Writing Room student, you will also have the opportunity to join free online Monday and Friday process and feedback groups to extend the value of your course.
