Local resident Jackie Friend is one of four people co-ordinating the Shubbak Festival - 'a window on contemporary Arab culture' ('shubbak' means window in Arabic). A biennial event based in London, this year it includes both live and online events - including streamed events from Riyadh, and elsewhere in the Arab world! The events are very wide-ranging in subject matter.
