Thames Water are undertaking mains repair works on Bedford Road N22 opposite the junction with Alexandra Park Road.
This involves the use of temporary multiway traffic signals. These works are taking place now and are estimated to be completed on the 28.10.26.
According to the latest update from the council's emergency planning team, all customers currently remain in supply and the leak has not deteriorated since it was reported overnight. Due to valve restrictions preventing full isolation of the affected main, repairs are expected to commence on 22 October 2026, subject to successful isolation.
Thames Water advises that the repair itself is expected to take around two days once the main has been isolated. However, associated reinstatement and site clearance works may continue until the end of next week. As a precaution, contingency measures are in place should any disruption occur during the works, including water tankers and identified locations for bottled water distribution if required. Support is also being provided to vulnerable customers through Priority Services Register arrangements.
The next update from Thames Water is expected tomorrow 22/10/26. Haringey Council’s Emergency Planning will continue to monitor the situation and will provide further updates should there be any significant developments or impacts.
Some residents have raised concerns about the repeated bursts in our area. I have now written to both the Council and Thames Water to ask:
- If anyone has assessed the causes, including Alexandra Palace event traffic, changing traffic patterns, capacity issues or development pressures.
- Are the Council and Thames Water working together on mitigation and long-term planning.
- Are any resilience or capacity assessments planned.
If you’ve been affected, please message us with details, and keep reporting every burst to Thames Water so there’s an official record.
