Thank you, and an invitation!

Another huge thank you to many loyal members of APN for more wonderful donations after our appeal in the last newsletter! They will ensure that APN keeps going well into next year.

Enthusiasm for this community website is also evident from the incredible 60% of our members who open the newsletter every fortnight (whatever the season of the year)! Many people seem to think, however, that the newsletter is APN – not realising that every item that appears in it links to a post on the website. So its content depends on what you, the members, post!

More activity on the site would ensure that APN flourishes in the fullest sense in the longterm, both as a forum and in the newsletter. Don’t hold back from contributing a post because you think no-one else is contributing, or you’ve posted enough already. It needs all these! As well as the bread-and-butter of items for sale or free, requests for tradespeople recommendations, discussions of local issues, etc., how about commenting on a local show or event that you have been to, a local walk that you have tried, an item of local history that you have discovered, or – if you were living here some time ago – your experience of this neighbourhood as it used to be (people who have moved away could also contribute to this!). We have found that the history of the neighbourhood is always popular. Click on the grey button labelled Add a Forum post on the Home page to add any of these types of posts.

If you need more space for your post than is provided by the usual Forum. you could put it on the Blog page (accessed from the menubar). Do you have a photo or video that is interesting/fun/beautiful? You could put it on the Gallery page (also accessed from the menubar).

There’s another way the site would really benefit from more input from its members (including joining the administration team!). Do you have a few minutes you could spare occasionally? Could you, for example, watch out for items of interest about Alexandra Palace/Park or Tambo Rec, lost pets, travel updates, information about some local shows (Finsbury Park theatre? Jacksons Lane? Pub gigs?), local planning applications, local news items in the Ham&High/Haringey Community Press, or any other local information that may interest other people (further ideas welcome!) The important thing is just to flag up items that may be of interest, not to provide comprehensive coverage. We also have APN flyers, if anyone would like to distribute these at local events or etc.

You can respond to these ideas by replying to this post, or contact Admin by personal message on the site (mailbox icon at top right), or email alexparkn@gmail.com.
