In Ducketts Common and Downhills Park. Join Extinction Rebellion groups from Barnet, Islington, Enfield, Camden and Haringey for a weekend celebrating community spirit with family activities and live music from local bands, a variety of workshops and discussion panels on topics ranging from animal agriculture to fast fashion, a funeral march and fashion pause, people's and children's assemblies, arts and crafts and yoga classes, swarming and of course the 'Heading for Extinction' talk. Come and find out more about it, in a local setting. And prepare for the International Uprising starting 7th October !
The opening action will start at Wood Green station at 10am on Saturday: a funeral procession through the heart of Wood Green, symbolising the lives already lost and that will be lost if we fail to act now on climate change. Led by Dan Spanner’s brass band playing New Orleans style jazz, accompanied by the XR Skeletons, and bearing the ”Our Future” coffins on our shoulders, we will march ... through shopping city, down to Turnpike Lane, and on to Downhills park, where we will join the Uprising opening ceremony for more theatrical performance ... Do join the march!
Sunday will be a quieter, Family day, ending with the Green Lanes Parade at 5.30pm. Bring drums, shakers, instruments and flags for a march down Green Lanes from Turnpike Lane to Manor House, where a closing ceremony will be held.
