On top of the Tottenham home football matches per annum the Stadium is allowed 16 major events to take place. That's a lot! So that has a huge impact on Tottenham and also our area. No one in the Council seems to know or care about the impact this has on the local communities and the knock on effect to lots of other areas in Haringey. Our local roads are gridlocked from 2 or 3 pm most week days - Durnsford Road, Bounds Green Road and Crescent Road to name a few. In addition there are the events happening in Alexandra Palace, with at least 17 closures of the road through the palace a year. The W3 bus is put on diversion to goodness knows where? It's unsustainable as it is, and to make matters worse they in their wisdom put in "trial" LTNs which are also causing traffic havoc and pollution.
I wrote to Catherine West about this and she said she supported the Local Traffic Neighbourhoods as they encouraged people to cycle and walk and would cut pollution. Obviously she has not had to get anywhere at 4 pm in the afternoon and spent ages waiting for a bus because it's stuck in traffic.
I sound a kill joy because people get entertainment from events but if you don't have the infrastructure it just won't work and I do think our lovely Palace park and other green parks and spaces should be for us and our children to enjoy. However, if we are continually choked up with traffic and unable to get around easily, then our way of life will totally change. This is happening and we need to object and stop it.
Additionally, the proposals regarding ceasing all day parking permits is discriminatory to people who live near the Tottenham Stadium and other areas mainly in Wood Green and Tottenham where they have all day parking enforcement. I can't actually believe they think this is a fair thing to do and the idea of a Labour Council? Please do take part in consultations about these matters.

Katie, many thanks for the feedback. I have raised this with officers several times and beginning of next year there should be a consultation about introducing parking suspension for non residents during events day.
