We have this growing in our very unmanicured lawn, but we can't identify it from our books. Does anyone know what it is? The photos may be a bit deceptive on the colour: it is a very pale sort of pinkish mauve, with little paddle-shaped leaves (bottom picture).

  • I think it is lady's smock.  We have lots in our garden so it does grow well round here

  • Check out cuckoo flower/lady's smock (cardamine pratensis). Think it might be that.

    • Thanks Maggy. Charming names. I see from RHS it can also be called Mayflower or Meadow Bittercress. It's nice to see what happens if you don't cut the grass!

    • How sweet!
