Hi all- after chasing a meeting with Network Rail for quite some time a progress meeting was held end of February, and I am able to provide some update on the schedule for the refurbishment of Alexandra Palace and Park Station within the "Access for All' scheme.

The design is complete and waiting for the funding approval from the Department of Transport. This is due mainly to the new construction methodology adopted and to the fact that the budget was allocated several time ago and now need to be brought in line with inflation.

One approved and funding released, the design will be finalised during the Summer and the station set-up during the Winter of 2026 and especially the Christmas Holidays: the new methodology will require scaffolding around the platforms for moving materials and construction so to inconvenience travel and commuting as less as possible.  This means there will be no ad-hoc planned closures of the line since Network Rail plans to use the planned closures .

There will be some need to get materials from Buckingham Road but Network Rail is working with Haringey officers to minimise the impact on residents and the bus stop.

The Access to All scheme will also see the installation of a disabled toilet,  the removal of the partition on the footbridge and the removal of the gates at the station entrance, with Oyster validators around the station. The footbridge itself will be resurfaced but unfortunately the scope of 'Access for All' project and available funds does not allow for further improvement to the station, which have been deferred to a 'Phase 2'.

I have asked specifically about engaging with residents about the design and Network Rail has confirmed that once the methodology and funding will receive the go ahead there will be an opportunity to engage with the community and present the project.

I have also asked if increased bike storage could be in the scope and Network Rail has taken an action to come back on this, and about adding a canopy on the footbridge, but officers have mentioned could pose a safety risk with commuters congregating under the canopy and rushing onto the stairs when the train arrives.

In terms of schedule, works should take around a year from start, so if everything according to schedule, completion should be by end of 2027.
