Update on the recent Fire near Alexandra Palace.
The London Fire Brigade spent more than 12 hours extinguishing a persistent grass and compost fire near Alexandra Palace, using nearly half a tonne of water to bring it under control. We’re relieved to confirm that no injuries were reported.
The blaze, which affected around half an acre of dried garden waste, led to temporary road closures and diversions while crews carried out essential dampening‑down work.
With recent dry conditions increasing the risk of fires in grass, compost and garden waste, residents are encouraged to keep compost heaps moist and turned, dispose of cigarettes responsibly, avoid leaving glass bottles outdoors, and report any early signs of smoke or smouldering.
