The W3 bus was diverted as usual during the summer events in the Park, and TfL have produced some wonderful maps of the diversions for bus stops and - even better - bus shelters. A great response to the campaigning of the W3 bus user group!

BUT- as various people have reported - the diversions took a very different route from previously, confusing all passengers, and causing endless trouble to bus drivers, who spent ages explaining to the passengers where the bus was going. The buses no longer went down Wood Green High Road, but instead Western Road and its extension, Mary Neuner Road.

If you assume that the diversion is the same as usual, you will not study the map on the bus stop. So this reinforces the issues that the W3 bus user group have raised with TfL before:

  • Maps of diversion routes need to be displayed in the buses as well as on bus stops - for the sake of the bus drivers as much as passengers.
  • On bus stops, maps need to be displayed along the whole route, not just on the half-dozen bus stops near the Park, because journeys are not confined to such a short distance!
