Private View – Sunday, April 13th

The vibrant space at Karamel N22 came alive with music, photography, and a shared sense of celebration asWomen in Jazz Media, in partnership with Collage Arts, launched their latest exhibition:

"Women in Jazz Photography: Her Frame. Her Sound."
Sunday’s private view at Karamel N22 marked the powerful opening of “Her Frame. Her Sound.” — a visually striking and soul-stirring exhibition curated by Women in Jazz Media. The room was filled with warmth, conversation, and creativity as guests gathered to celebrate the work of incredible women photographers capturing the world of jazz through their unique lens.

From intimate portraits of performers lost in the music to vibrant moments on stage and behind the scenes, every image told a story — not just of the artist in front of the lens, but of the woman behind it. This exhibition does more than showcase photography; it reclaims space, giving voice and visibility to the women shaping the visual language of jazz.

The exhibition brings together the work of six extraordinary women photographers from around the world — Val Wilmer, Monika S. Jakubowska, Vuyo Giba, Tatiana Gorilovsky, Enid Farber, and Kasia Ociepa — each offering a personal and powerful visual narrative. Their images don't just document; they celebrate, capturing the spirit, emotion, and freedom at the heart of jazz.

The atmosphere at Karamel was buzzing with admiration, inspiration, and community. Attendees mingled with the photographers who were able to make it, and also the jazz lovers, while enjoying the venue’s signature vegan bites and laid-back vibe. It was an evening that embodied everything the exhibition stands for: representation, creativity, and the celebration of women in music and media.
The atmosphere on the night was electric, enhanced by a live performance from the phenomenal Hannah Horton and guest musicians, whose soulful set added an extra layer of magic and meaning to the evening. As the music flowed and the images spoke, guests mingled, reflected, and immersed themselves in this rich tapestry of sound and vision.

There truly has never been an exhibition like this — and its impact is undeniable.
A heartfelt congratulations to Women in Jazz Media for curating such a powerful, international showcase, and to Karamel for providing the perfect home for it.
