"Sama’, a quartet of the finest Palestinian classical musicians, are on tour in the UK this month and Haringey Justice for Palestinians and Medical Aid for Palestinans invite you to their concert of classical and contemporary Arabic music.
“Sama” literally means ‘listening deeply, intently’. As is the tradition in Palestine and in the wider Middle-East, the music takes us on a journey through instrumental dialogues and improvisations. The Sama’ Quartet’s playful flute and Arabic percussion weave between the moody buzuk and the resonant qanun, within the rhythm set by the bass guitar. With serenity and artistic integrity, Sama’s rich sound will evoke an array of sensual enchantments.
The leader is Ibrahim Atari, coordinator of Arabic music at the Edward Said National Conservatoire of Music." (info. from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign)
