Dec 10, 2017
  • Dec 10, 2017 from 10:30am to 2:00pm
  • Location: The pond at the Bidwell/Winton Ave corner of Albert Rd Recreation Ground
  • Latest Activity: Dec 12, 2017

Come on down on Sunday 10 December 10.30am – 2pm. The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) have given us trees and hedges that we’ll be planting in the pond enclosure as well as laying more tree trunk slices paths.  Think of it as a pre-Christmas binge work out!

There will be a second session on Tuesday 12 December 10.00am -3pm for those of you who started Christmas celebrations early & couldn’t make Sunday!

N.B. The pond liner has been fixed & no longer leaks

  • Coming on Tuesday....
    • That’s brilliant! I can’t make it cos of work but it’s great to see so much planting going in for the future. Thank you!
  • In spite of the snow, the pond enclosure is now surrounded by hedging plants on three sides (not the tennis court side). They finished on the dot of 2pm (I was only there for the last hour!). A lovely mixture of guelder rose, honesuckle and others which I can't remember ... Unbelievably, the hawthorn that was ordered can't be used for health and safety reasons! ...
    • I heard Mat from TCV cursing as they had specifically ordered non thorny and native plants and received some thorny and some non-native plants!
    • What a pain.
    • Thanks so much for coming Annabel. Have to admit that I lasted under an hour at the start - a very chill day. I’ll post some pix. Katy
    • It was Chilly! Hope the hedgeplants take in spite of the unfriendly weather. The pond looks lovely.
