UKMovers. Some people recommend them, but (too late) I found several very bad reviews. They did a survey by WhatsApp video and completely underestimated the packing and vans required. They arrived late, packed haphazardly, either poorly labelling boxes or not labelling them at all, and took forever at it, regularly knocking off to smoke exotic cheroots in the street. They complained all the time about the amount of stuff we had - isn't that what the survey is for? They threw books in boxes, mashing pages and tearing bookjackets. They immediately packed my outdoor shoes (not found two weeks later) and my handbag, cutting off access to cash, so we had to cancel our taxi. Thankfully, the handbag emerged a couple of days after we arrived. The boxes were randomly dumped in rooms, rather than in the rooms labelled. Unlabelled boxes turn up everywhere. They parked two pieces of antique furniture on a working radiator at the back of the room full of boxes, furniture, bags piled almost to the ceiling. One man said he'd looked through my vinyl record collection and noticed one was worth something: would I notice if they nicked it? I said yes, and a week later found they had dumped the record case in the garage (looks like I still have everything, fingers crossed). We didn't find plates for several days, and it took almost a week to find cutlery. They charged a fortune in the end, and the boss wanted me to put the last installment in his personal account (I didn't). I went round afterwards picking up things they couldn't be bothered to pack: several big bags full. We were supposed to leave by 12, but didn't leave until 4pm.Avoid these people like the plague!
