Stephen Baron, local pianist and piano teacher presents Babar the Elephant as a musical show with active partipication from the audience - dance, drama, costumes, percussion, singing. The music by Francis Poulenc is by turns witty, light and expressive. Poulenc wrote Babar for his young cousins who one day put the picture-book 'The Story of Babar' on the music-stand of his piano and told him to 'play the music'. Poulenc improvised and eventually set the whole book to music for narrator and piano. The music is widely regarded as one of the finest pieces of children's music. Stephen has been presenting classical music shows and workshops for many years in an attempt to bring Classical music closer to children. For more info see stephenbaronmusic.com
