Here's an update from Cross Safe N10:

We are delighted to let you know that Haringey Council has confirmed to us in writing this week that the improvement works have been programmed with their contractor and TfL Signals to commence in January 2016.    This follows a positive response to the Council's consultation showing in favour of safety improvements.

The improvements consist of an upgrade to the traffic signals at the junction which includes the following:

  • Installation of ‘Green Man’ pedestrian crossing, facilities, incorporating countdown timers, on Colney Hatch Lane, north and south of Alexandra Park Road and on Alexandra Park Road itself;
  • Removal of the traffic signals at the Pages Lane Junction, changing it to a priority junction. The staggered pedestrian crossing point just south of Pages Lane will be retained;
  • Installation of a Zebra crossing on Pages Lane;
  • Installation of a pedestrian Island on Alexandra Park Road near the junction of Muswell Avenue;
  • Installation of advanced stop lines for cyclists on Colney Hatch Lane approaches to the Alexandra Park Road junction;
  • De-cluttering and improvement of the general street scene around the Colney Hatch Lane and Pages Lane junction.

We are very grateful to the local councillors, Catherine West MP and staff at Haringey Council and Transport for London who have listened to our concerns about the major safety issues at the junctions which so many have been confronted with on a daily basis.  We have been campaigning for two years for this outcome and would like to thank you again for all your support.  By signing and sharing our petition, contributing your personal experiences to our road safety survey and the Council's consultation, you have helped us achieve this positive result.

Should we get any specific dates for the commencement of the works, we will contact you nearer the time.

With best regards from all at Cross Safe N10
