Coppetts Wood is the large area of woodland above the Colney Hatch Lane Tescos. Like Pinkham Way, this used to a be a sewage works, or to be accurate, two sewage works either side of the ancient woodland in the centre. Since 1983 the area has been in continuing restoration by a small team headed by an extraordinary bloke called Ollie Natelson - named for an 'Unsung Hero' award in the Observer a few years ago - and, since 1997, it's been designated Local Nature Reserve.

The Spring Woodland Festival is on Sunday, 26th May, from 1-4pm. If you've not been to Coppetts Wood, it's a beautiful peaceful place and well worth the journey. The best access is via the left turn on the road leading down to Summers Lane Recycling Centre.
